Life Insurance Site Warns Soldiers of Predatory Practices

PlatinumInsurance.info, a Web site that provides information and helps consumers find a life insurance carrier, is warning military personnel of predatory practices in the industry.

Carlsbad, CA (PRWEB) July 23, 2008 -- Soldiers in the United States Armed Forces should be wary of predatory and deceitful practices in the life insurance industry. PlatinumInsurance.info, a Web site that offers information on life insurance, has been hearing shameful reports of young service members being sold expensive life insurance polices they didn't need or didn't even realize they had bought. The team at Platinum Insurance would like to warn soldiers to be wary of these schemes.

Reports of soldiers being conned into buying a life insurance policy without their knowledge are not new, unfortunately. Five years ago Kiplinger's magazine reported that soldiers were being pitched high-fee investments and expensive, unnecessary life-insurance policies. This led to multi-million dollar fines being levied against First Command Financial Planning and American-Amicable Life Insurance, as well as cash refunds for many policy holders.

New policies now restrict companies from soliciting military personnel in barracks or at mandatory meetings, but unscrupulous salespeople are still working off-base, according to a report by the Department of Defense Inspector General's office. There have been reports of agents picking up soldiers for off-base meetings, offering prizes and meals, and then using high pressure tactics to coerce them into buying a life insurance policy. The team at PlatinumInsurance.info does not approve of such practices and would not recommend companies that use these sales tactics to their visitors.

Platinum Insurance can provide advice and assistance for military personnel who are concerned about their life insurance policy options. For more information or help finding a life insurance carrier for whole life insurance, term life insurance and universal life insurance, visit www.platinuminsurance.info.
